Meet Our Teacher : Barbara
1. When, how and why did you choose the teaching profession?
My love for children developed early on. As the eldest sibling and cousin, I often looked after the younger ones and played with them. My favourite aunt once told me that I was destined to work with children one day — and that’s really where it all began.
2. Why did you choose the Brit–Magyar School?
After spending a few years abroad, I was looking for a suitable school for my children — one where they could continue their education in English while strengthening their Hungarian language skills as well. That’s how I found the Brit–Magyar School. Since I was also seeking a new teaching position, I was delighted to have the opportunity to join this wonderful team.
3. What does an ideal lesson look like for you?
I love teaching through play — creating lessons where children learn and discover new things almost without realising it, simply by enjoying themselves.
4. What is the most important thing you would like to pass on to your students?
I focus on showing them how much knowledge we can absorb through simple, hands-on activities and creative use of different materials.
5. How do you motivate your students to learn?
I try to motivate them with plenty of fun and movement-based activities at the beginning of lessons — tasks that make them laugh, move, and engage right away.
6. What do you love most about teaching?
For me, the biggest challenge — and the greatest joy — is being able to connect with every single child in some way, creating a safe and welcoming classroom atmosphere where everyone feels accepted. I believe this is the most important foundation for all learning.
